He's Back!

Finally the wait is over! My darling CCH is back from Germany. I woke up much earlier than usual and did many things so that my husband can come back to a warm and welcoming home.

The day before, I made sure that the every corner of the flat is sparkling clean, every knickknack in the house is perfectly placed and aligned, fresh bedsheets with soft pink flowers was draped over our mattress to create a soft and warm look. Perfect! Looking almost like a show flat. I also bought some neon tetras and guppies to add more colours to our little aquarium.

This morning, I went to the wet market and spend almost $70 getting vegetables, poultry, seafood and most important ingredents for soups. An amount that I have never spend before. You must be thinking that is alot of money for a homecoming dinner. Hey! Do you think a night of home-cooked food is enough to expressed how much I missed him?! I am going to whip up home cooked meals every day until I return to school.

For the grand opening ceremony, I started with the most important dish - Ching's aromatic, heartwarming and painstaking soup of love. Allowed to boil for a full day, from morning till evening, all the rich flavours of ingredents were deeply infused into the soup. Almost heavenly! I really hope my CCH will love it.

My CCH's mom, who is a cantonese, is an excellent chef of soups. Her soup is simply heavenly compare to mine. I would put in tons of effort just to reach the state of "almost heavenly".

When I was newly married to my CCH, I would learn how to prepare soups for him. Each time, I sincerely thought that it was really nice, even nicer than those prepared by my own mother. Hence, I naively thought that mine was comparable to his mom's. Sadly, he would tell me plainly that it was a far cry from hers. Indeed, during the weekends at his mom's dinner table, I got to verify the differences. I have to concede that it was a far cry from hers.

Having eaten the humble pie, I know I have to continuously improve on my culinary skills, especially soups, in order to play my duty as my CCH's wonderful wife as I have vowed to be on our wedding day.

Eragon

Went to catch Eragon with Val. If you watch the trailer, you may be deceived that this is going to be a breath-taking and nerve-racking experience. I am afraid not... It was really slow and Val almost died in the theatre. Personally, it is not worth the ticket.

Ouch! The Doctor is not exactly handsome.

What a holiday! Let me make a quick list of my exciting holiday experience.

1) I can't join my husband in Germany because it is snowing heavily there. Don't think I can stand the freezing temperature. Most probably die of hypothermia.

2) The shower curtain and rod came crashing down one morning. Thanks to my sister who inspired herself to be a swinging chimpanzee while I was sleeping. (Pending for husband's handy work)

3) The piping of my darling washing maching gave way and flooded my entire service balcony once again. Guess that was an omen that Singapore will be flooded by torrential downpour.

4) The Return of the Food Poisoning episode.

5) Due to unknown causes, I had bad urtricaria (aka Hives) and have to pay a 3rd or 4th visit in a month to my not-so-handsome-but-nice doctor. This time I had enough of my rashes, a jab of steroid was adminstered on top of a 10-day course of antihistamie. (Aiyah! I forgot to ask the doctor if I had too much honey. Perhaps that is why all the hives start popping on my body. I wonder if Winnie the Poon often suffers from Hives. Hehehe... )

Oh! What a holiday! Thuo/Thee shall count thy blessings! (Okie, it obvious... I don't study literature. Thuo or Thee as long as I don't loose my teeth!)

Helen, The Baby Fox

Yesterday Joreen passed me a burnt copy of this Japanese movie called "Helen, The Baby Fox" and I decided to watch it on this lazy Saturday afternoon. Thanks to Joreen's thoughfulness, she turned a white, plain and boring CD pockets into a lovely gift from the heart by decorating it with lots of snoopy stickers. (Okie, I dun have a camera to take pictures of Joreen's wonderful masterpiece. Please try hard to image okie.)

Oh boy! Am I blessed with so many sweet and thoughtful friends around me, like Joreen, Gillian, Mich & Dia! I would never thought of getting little gifts, making little cards that are sprinkled with sugar and spiece and all things nice. My wonderful friends' caring gestures do make me question myself if I am a girl.

I forget birthdays, even my own (my best friend has to remind me of my own birthday almost every year). Anniversaries are hard-to-remember dates like those from your horrifying history lessons. Why does girls love window shopping?! Can't they have an objective or list their shopping agenda before starting? I would prefer "Hey, it's my treat yeah!" or "Choose one. I can afford I can. I can't means I can't. Pretty boring me. No surprises but my sincere expression of appreciation for friendship. Nevertheless, there is still a girl inside of me.

Back to the foxy movie, it is pretty slow-paced. Honestly, I almost fell asleep. Perhaps, it is the spell of Saturday afternoons. But if one is an animal-lover, this show is quite heart-warming to watch.

Magic of Love and Power of Bite Force

After the KTV Session with Joreen, we were supposed to meet with my sister and head down to Expo to watch a magic musical, called Magic of Love. Due to my dumb dumb handphone or mobile service provider, I was unable to receive any calls from my sister. (Think it is really time for my handphone to go.) Hence, there was a major delay in meeting up with my sister. This resulted in a huge quarrel. The details were too long to explain, let's move into the action!!!

Poor soft-spoken and demure Joreen! She got to witness and experience the destructive quarreling power of the Tan sisters. Like two vicious hyenas, we barked and snarled at each other (Hmmm.... okok... Maybe my sister thinks I am the hyena). With a bite force of 1000 pound, more powerful than that of a rottweiler, a lion, a shark, it must have been a heart-pounding and nerve-racking experience for our gentle and meek Joreen. One must remember that the hyena has the second most powerful bite force on land, a close contender after alligator snapping turtle. (Refer to count down listing for bite force of animals as shown below)

Bite Force Championship

No. 5 - The Rottweilere, Dog of Dogs

Estimated Bite Force: 325 Pound

"Don't think I am cute hor! If you make me mad, I can crush your bones..."

Bite Force Championship

No. 4 - The Great White Shark, Shark of Sharks

Estimated Bite Force: Lower End of 500 Pound

"Althought I have gigantic mouth, actually I am quite nice as compared to those ahead of me in this championship. Please note: As a matter of fact, I actually hate human flesh. It's not yummy at all."

Bite Force Championship

No. 3 - The Lion, King of the Savanna

Estimated Bite Force: Higher End of 500 Pound

"Yawn... It seems to me that many have mistaken that I am the King of the Jungle, when it is my distance cousin, Tiger. Check out this website and read under the heading habitate, you will agree with me that King of the Savanna would be more appropriate.

http://www.awf.org/content/wildlife/detail/lion
http://www.tigertrust.info/thesumatrantiger.htm"

Bite Force Championship

No. 2 - The Hyena

Estimated Bite Force: 1000 Pound

Bite Force Championship

No. 1 - The Alligator Snapping Turtle

Estimated Bite Force: 1004 Pound

"I have the most powerful bite force on land and I don't even have teeth. Moral of the story: Do not be deceived by a turtle."

Like some torrential rainfall, they are fast and swift in arriving, they are also prompt and eager to leave. Soon, the storm was over and we happily went to expo and met Yeok Yong & Friends for the musical show. Hmmm.... Guess this is also call magic of love.

The Magic of Love is a heart-touching musical sprinkled generously with magic tricks and illusions. Something that we ought to be proud of is that this musical is local and has made its way to the international stage.

A very interesting and engaging way to present a magic performance, the magic performance are simply stunning. The story is about the unwavering love of a father (Lawrence Kong) and his relationship with his daughter (Priscilla Kong). In real life, Lawrence Kong and Priscilla Kong are father and daughter by blood. A must watch for lovers of musicals and magic shows.

Finally, I think I will leave you with something... I have to tell you about the Bite Force God. It is too powerful for the Bite Force Championship. With a amazing bite force of 2500 pound or more, there is none like this creature.

Warning: So, girls out there. If you see a buaya (Malay for crocodile) guy*, please run!!!

*Buaya do not simply mean crocodile. When you call a guy a buaya, you mean the guy is very desparate for girls. Refer to The Coxford Singlish Dictionary available at TalkingCock.com for complete explanation by clicking here.

Oh My Heaven! Save Us from Ching's Croaking

Met up with Joreen on Friday, 15 Dec 06. I was really happy to see her after such a long time. Thank God that she is positive, cheerful & bubbly. (Such a strong girl! Joreen, great job!)

Initially, we wanted to go for high tea (hehe... I wanted to pretend to be high class mah) but somehow we ended up going to KTV. For me, it is the 2nd croaking session this week....

Argh!!! What??!! Croaking session again!!!
Oh My Heaven! Save Us from Ching's Croaking....

Okok... Well, I did not croak at KB*x lor. This time, I explored a new place at Chinatown with Joreen. It is called K-ster Inc Karaoke.

Notice: Ok, this is not the offical voucher. Please don't print this out and try to fool the people there yeah.

Hey, not bad lor... First it is way cheaper than KB*x, we each only need to pay for a drink which cost around 5 bucks and sing for 5 hours!!! At the end of the session, we each only paid 10 bucks.

Another plus point is the service is better, you can even borrow jacket from them if you feel cold. In KB*x.... Sorry, I wish you would freeze to death.

My message to KB*x ~~~ Sorry KB*x, I simply have too much body fats. Your evil plan of getting me into hypothermia has failed. Hahaha... Hehehehe...

Well, to be fair to KB*x, they have their selling points too. Their sound systems and sound proofing is much better. At K-ster, I could hear our next door neighbour's horrendous croaking quite clearly from time to time. Furthermore, their songs are more current, I was able to find most of the latest songs in KB*x but not K-ster. Hence, it is the consumer's take on which premises to do their croaking.

My recommendations: if your croaking can kill, please go KB*x. Thank you!

Home Alone - Gillian to the Rescue

I was home alone when I began to feel unwell... Weak, bloated & nausea. This reminded me that just not too long ago, I suffered from bad food poisoning. It was a terrible experience. I vomited the whole night and I lost count of the number of times I had diarrhea. Back then, my CCH (Cute Cute Hubby) was by my side. Really appreciated him for taking such good care of me during that time.

However, I was terrified that the scourage of food poisoning was back with a vengence. This time I was all alone and my CCH is away for overseas project trip. What if it is really food poisoning, will I make it till the next morning? What if I faint in the house? Tentacles of fear and negativities gripped me. I called my CCH but his mobile was off. My parents are living far away. Somehow I managed to contact Gillian who lives nearby. Immediately, she came to my rescue like super hero!!! Opps... I mean super heroine.

No!!! Not her....

Yes! That's her!

Oh!!! My heroine!!! Thank you for making sure I was alright!

It is so sweet of her to rush over and make sure I was alright. Fortunately, I still had some medicine for food poisoning that was left over previously. I was alright by the next morning. By the time I woke up, my heroine was gone... I must say this again...
THANK YOU FOR COMING TO THE RESCUE!!!

KBox Mania with the 2 Famous KTV Tai Tai

Finally, I met up with my 2 famous KTV Tai Tai for a 4-hour session of intense croaking. Sadly, my darling Claudia brought her wonderful camera but forgot the memory card! How interesting and exciting huh! I dun have any picture-taking device with me to take snapshots of our glorious croaking concert. Nevertheless, we had a croakingly great time!!!

This incident has inspired me to get a Sony Ericsson Phone once my current contract allows me to do that, which is most likely going to be next year. In the mean time, I have to use old KTV photos of our very first session to introduce the dynamic croaking duel.

Introducing Dynamic KTV Tai Tai Number 1
Fast Songs Vocalist - Aspiring Tai Tai 2 Be

Talent: Able to sing fast song with relative ease and accuracy.

Vocal Range: You name it, she hit it!

Current Image: Long hair with long wavey curls, has evolved into a romantic and womanly charm. (Photo currently unavailable)

Introducing Dynamic KTV Tai Tai Number 2
Love Songs Vocalist - The Fair Maiden

Talent: Able to sing love songs with intense emotions.

Vocal Range: Hmmm... Can go off range at times! But still wonderful to my ears.

I think I have improved tremendously since my previous attempts at KTVing. Now, I can croak more songs with higher accuracy. I also know more songs and even a few latest songs that the KTV tai tai have not even heard before. Hey! That is something to be proud of.

Prom Queen

Well, it is the time of the year. Parties, Dinner & Dance , Prom Nights & Commisioning Balls (Claudia, excited for Paul right? Can't wait to see ur darling, handsome Paul in his uniform right)... Hey! Like the old-fashioned way of saying.... It is time to put on your best bib and tucker!!!

Bib & wat??? tucker??? *Gosh! U r kidding right?*

Ya, that's what they used to say in olden UK. It simply means your best clothes which you wear on special occassions. Dun ask me why bib? I dun get it too... Well, bibs are meant for babies. Perhaps in those times, the men drool excessively. Understandable, given how the women dressed themselves in those days. Almost half of their peaches were conspicuously flaunt. (Opps!!!!)

Now since it is the time of the year, my sister attended her school's Prom. Naturally, I became her fashion consultant, hairstylist & make-up artist without getting paid. I even sponsered my Zara gown which I have not wore it before. Sigh... I know, I know... Cheap cheap labour right?!

Ha! Nevermind, I make sure my service rendered will be remunerated once my sister got her first pay check. *Evil grin ~_^.

War-zone!!!

Ok, the Anti Hair Algae was meant for removing bodily hair from my sister. Hahaha!!!

Just kidding!

The ALL Powerful, Invincible Colour Kung Fu Formation!!!

My sister pretty hor?!!! Furthermore, she is really tall.

Deja Vu

Meet up with an ex-colleague, Steven, from NCSS to catch Deja Vu at JP. Since his birthday is this month and I am pretty clueless when it comes to gifts-giving. Hence, giving him mini treats is my way of showing appreciation for our friendship.

Steven is a really fun-loving, easy-going and trustworthy guy who is very much musically-inclined. He has his own band, AIR. So what is my purpose of broadcasting his virtues leh? Aiyoh... Issit obvious? I am trying to promote my single and available friend lah. Hehehe... Any takers?? :p

I heard pretty good comments before I watch the show. Indeed, Deja Vu is worth my money. Starring Denzel Washington, this movie does keep me wide awake dispite the late hours. Silly me even dropped one of my slippers onto the front step during the show. As I was a little anxious for the main character (as usual) I think my feet jerked forward and one of my slippers flew right off. We ended up search for my slipper in the dark. Hahaha.... Fortunately, I dun have Hong Kong feet like XXX from S.H.E.... Kekeke....

All alone at home… Listening to an interview with Ping(3) Guan(4) on FM933… My sister is out with her friends…

I gave her a buzz earlier… Wanted to ask her if she would like to have her favorite rojak and she can have them when she’s back home…. I remember she mentioned she wanted to have rojak over yesterday’s dinner.

No answer… A few hours later, no returned call… Think she must be busy with her friends… Glad she has really great friends around her.

***Ring***

Just then my sister called back, she asked me if I wanted rojak…. Hahahaha…… It warms my heart…

Today I finished packing all her stuff for her… All her clothes, all her accessories and many other stuff… Yes, it is time for her to return to my Dad’s place. My Dad & his wife really hope for her return… My mom too… My husband & I agree that it is good to do so… However, I have mixed feelings…

Although, back then, my dad’s impulsive decision to re-marry within such a short time infuriate me at times… Nevertheless the series of episodes that have happened taught me various things. Family ties will always be there, no matter how things may change…

Yes, my dad’s wife is not our birth mom… Yes, I am encouraging my mom to get married to his current boyfriend… But they will always be my parents who truly love us and care about us.

I can clearly see that both my parents are much happier in their current relationship. My best gifts for the both of them are my sincere blessings. I too hope my sister will give them her understanding and her blessings.

*********************************************************
Aiyah... In the end, the rojak stall is closed.

The Offical Birth of Ching's Little Kaleidoscope

Drum role.... Ching's Little Kaleidoscope blog is offically completed.
Please applause!!!!

Yipee... It was sure alot of sweat + trial and error work. It is definiately worth all the trouble.

Step 1: Skin on Skin
Gosh... I spent the entire afternoon today trying to personalize my little blog. I had a hard time changing the skin. Claudia tried to help me over the phone and msn. Aiyoh... Catch no ball. Nevertheless, I really appreciate Claudia for helping out this blog idiot.

So in the end, I manage to get the skin thingy up. Hehehe... No... I did not get my skin from blogskin... Instead I got it from http://freeskins.blogspot.com. It has pretty cool skin. Highly recommended.

Step 2: Cbox for My Blog
Well, manage to get Cbox after looking at Sylvia's blog and trying to figure out she put it there. At first, I just cut her code and paste it in my template. Hahaha.... Then I realize all her messages ended up in my blog instead. Nevertheless, I managed to explore furture and got my very own Cbox.

Step 3: Music for My Blog
Initally wanted to add some kind of welcome music to my blog just like how Sylvia and Shuxin have done it. Clueless... Hence, I called Sylvia for help. Well, again.... Can't really catch any ball since it is over the phone...

Anyway, I found this really cool myblogtune thingy. It is like your own radio station on your blog. Most of the music are ah-moh (western). They dun have chinese songs. But if you do tune in to ah-moh songs like me, hey do check this out. They have Jazz, Blues and many other genres. Check it out at http://www.tornadostream.com/

Okie, enough of blogging. Calling it a day.

Gosh! I have a blog!!!

Gosh... All that talks about blog being the "in" thing. Some aunties or mothers may ask, "Which block huh? Block 157 issit?". (You know our Singaporean HDB Block)

It's everywhere. They have the BlogTV, my sis blog, my frenz blog, I said I wanted to learn how to blog (a year ago), I made various attempts to blog (two actually)....

Perhaps, I am kinda out of touch with such things. I never seem to be able to start... Thuo it seems to be such a simple thing to do. Nevertheless and finally, I have my own blog. Yipee.... Makes me feel young & "in".... hahaha....

Definition of Blog
Blog is short for weblog. A weblog
1) is a journal (or newsletter) that is
2) frequently updated and
3) intended for general public consumption.
Blogs generally
4) represent the personality of the author or the Web site.

Hmmm... Indeed well said... Personality of the author... Initially, I had trouble thinking of a name for my blog that reflects me. A year ago, Claudia tried to show me how to create my own blog in NIE canteen. Due to the bad connection, it never went through. Back then, I wanted to call me blog something like "Chew It"... Why? Coz my hubby is Mr. Chew and that makes me Mrs Chew. Lame Lame hor... Anyway, I managed to remove the blog.

Today, I am proud to say the name I have chosen for my blog can better represent the author (me! of course). By using my little kaleidoscope to view this world, I hope to add captivating colours and fascinating patterns into my simple life.
***Aiyoh.... Sound so philosophical. :p***

Anyway, I wanted to choose a kaleidoscope-like skin for my blog but dunno how to... Guess I will figure out along the way. So now I will leave you with some pictures of kaleidoscope.

Pretty right?
